Before Step 2

• Anna will email or text you multiple assessments.
• This process is to ensure that your ADHD symptoms are not being caused by any other mental health issues, making your ADHD worse, or is not ADHD at all. Lets investigate!

At home (Step 2)

• Please complete these assessments over the course of a week.
• Do them before 10am, after a good night’s rest.
• Please text Anna once completed.
• Anna will need at least 60 minutes to review your assessment results, add them to your file and prepare for your Step 3 session.
• Please scan and email Anna any school reports you might have to: anna@abpsychology.com.au

Anna will book your Step 3 Assessment Feedback Session, at the end of Step 1.

Before this session
You will complete mutiple online psychological screening assessments at home, over the course of a week.

These assessments explore factors that may influence ADHD, such as:

• mood and anxiety,
• sleep and stress,
• impulsivity and emotional regulation,
• trauma history,
• autism traits, and
• general wellbeing.

During this session
We will review your latest assessment results together.

At the end of this session
We will discuss whether to proceed to the Diagnostic Interview in Step 4.

Anna will book the Step 4 Diagnostic Interview for you after this feedback session.

Nearly half-way with your assessment!

120 – 150 minutes | $470 (No Medicare Rebate Available)

This diagnostic interview is used world-wide.

During this interview, a support person (who ideally knew you as a child before age 12), will be invited to contribute examples of your ADHD symptoms.

Before this session
Remember to invite you support person (parent, sibling, life partner or ‘bestie’).

During the session
We will examine your ADHD symptoms in childhood and adulthood, and how they affect daily life.

After this session
See Step 5 below.

Anna will book the Diagnostic Intterview for you at the end of Step 3.

After the Diagnostic Interview, you are on your way to a formal diagnosis!

120 minutes | $470

After the diagnostic interview (Step 4), Anna prepares a written report for you and your referring GP.

This report combines all the information and assessments collected over the course of the first 4 Steps.

The Report Outlines

• Diagnostic outcome.
• Summary of assessment findings.
• Interpretation of assessment results.
• Recommendations for treatment and support.

Once the Report is Ready
Generally Anna requires 1-2 weeks to set aside 2 – 3 hours for report writing.
Once completed, the report will be emailed to you and your referring GP, or a psychiatrist, if necessary.

For many decades, across all of Australia, only a psychiatrist (interested in ADHD), could make a formal ADHD diagnosis.

But….in Queensland…..since 01/12/2025, a specialist ADHD GP may now also make a formal diagnosis!!!

This is a huge step in speeding up the diagnostic process, and reducing the cost. It also frees up psychiatrists to get on with more important issues.

GP ADHD Diagnosis
If after your assessment with Anna, you decide to pursue a formal diagnosis, the first person to approach is your usual QLD GP.

If your GP does not have the training or interest in ADHD, and does not feel comfortable to diagnose, even with Anna’s comprehensive report, Anna has a list of specialist ADHD GPs on the Gold Coast, for you to choose from.

Psychiatrist ADHD Diagnosis
If any other issues were identified during the comprehensive assessments, that indicate the need for your to rather be seen by a psychiatirst, Anna will explain why and provide you with a list of ADHD psychiatirst on the Gold Coast to choose from.

Once Formally Diagnosed
Medication may be prescribed, since it works for 80% of all people with ADHD. Stimulants and non-stimulants are vavailavle. These are also the most useful medications, as compared to treating any other mental health disorder. My suggestion is that everyone gives it a go for at least 6 months to see if it might make life easier. You won’t know until you try. It has made a huge difference in my life since my late diagnosis!

Accommodations may be applied for in education institutions or work places (e.g. for extra time or other extensions).

Most importantly, you are now ready to start the real work to finding out how to manage your ADHD from day to day.

Break those habits that get you in trouble and find practical and scientifially-backed tools and skills to do better, once you know better.
